…. The Fashion Industry is changing and rightly so. We have a responsibility to change the issues for good.
Google tells us that “Sustainable fashion refers to clothing that is designed, manufactured, distributed, and used in ways that are environmentally friendly. Ethical fashion, a related term that is also prevalent in the conscious consumerism world, refers to clothing made in ways that value social welfare and worker rights.”
But what does sustainable fashion actually mean? In short, it’s an umbrella term for clothes that are created and consumed in a way that can be, quite literally, sustained, while protecting both the environment and those producing garments.
We have taken our own steps toward a more sustainable approach to manufacturing clothes. Whilst we have not achieved all our goals, we have made a number of improvements to our manufacturing processes and the way we support our staff.
Who makes our clothes and where is now as important as how we deal with our rubbish or what electricity we are using.
We have opted for a number of solutions to make our manufacturing studio more environmentally friendly. All our leftover fabrics are being recycled by a professional company specialising in that field. We are getting our energy from a 100% green supplier with energy efficient bulbs and our hangers are all made of cardboard, which helps eliminating the use of plastics. Speaking of plastic… you might wonder how we protect our garments when finished. Our wrapping is made of bio-degradable material. Another step in the right direction 😉
There is still much to be done but all of our team is helping to create an environment that is fit for the future.
As an ethical supplier, we are committed to the welfare of our staff by paying them a fair wage for their expertise and excellence and making sure our studio is a safe and healthy place to work.
For those who are interested in improving their language skills, we offer english courses.
For a fun team-building experience, we frequently take trip and explore exercise classes like yoga to keep our backs in good shape 😉
We are continually improving the running of our studio, streamlining the service and production. This affects of course the way we handle our cutoffs for example and how we produce in general. To go the extra mile, we have now teamed up with Global Angels, a charity that is making a big difference for the environment. We are acutely aware of our carbon footprint and are hoping to offset some of the impact by supporting the efforts in Tsavo, Kenya. Read more here.
